'For this child I prayed and the Lord has granted the desires of my heart.'
A story is told about Elkanah who had two wives; Hannah and Peninnah. The former had no children while the latter had children.
Peninnah would constantly and purposefully provoke Hannah for not having children. Hannah prayed to the Lord and in her prayer she vowed that if the Lord will grant her a son, she will dedicate him to the Lord all the days of his life.
The lord heard her prayers and gave her a son and she named him Samuel who would later become one of the greatest prophets in the bible.
There is so much lesson to learn in this context that through persistence in prayers and faith, God will hear your pleas.
Hannah kept her promise and when she brought Samuel to Eli the priest when he was around 5-6 years but during those years she poured into that boy her character, her heart, her faith so that when she presented him, Samuel would have a foundation and he would know something about character and faith.
Pour into someone else if you want to make a difference in this world. You want meaning and purpose, pour into someone else and ask God for the discipline to keep what you prayed for and the wisdom to multiply it.
